<p>Think about how you feel when somebody smiles at you and treats you well. It gives you a pleasant feeling. We would rather be around a positive happy person than an irritable and angry one. Be the person who makes others feel good to be around. Not to mention, being in a good mood is also beneficial for your health! Not only will you’re first affect yourself positively, but your energy to the world will be positive. </p>
<p>While spending time with Ex-Buddhist Monk, Nim Chaichana, I asked him what his views were on living in a peaceful world. With a smile he explained how it’s all possible. Watch this video below for his interview!</p>

<p><strong>People are Your Mirrors</strong><br />
We are attracted to others who have similar traits that we possess. Similarly, we are turned off by those who possess traits we dislike in ourselves. If you find yourself clashing with somebody, reflect as to what specifically turns you off. Are you irritated by a co-worker who constantly victimizes himself? Do you have that trait? Are you always the victim?</p>

<strong>Your Friends Are Guides to Self Discovery</strong><br />
Why are they your friends? What do you like about them? They must have similar traits that you possess. Be aware that some qualities you all share may not be the healthiest. Some friends get along because their bonding time includes talking negatively about others. Other friends wallow in self pity. Be self aware.</p>

<strong>Meditate</strong><br />
Set aside a time to do a meditation to ask your higher self for guidance. Connecting to the higher self is different for each individual. Your higher self is the all knowing part of you. When you’re aligned with your higher self you’ll feel happier and as if things are flowing properly.<br />

Using methods I’ve learned from Theta Healing, I travel up to the 7th plane of existence. I center myself, and in my mind I travel above the universe, and travel higher and higher until I feel my brainwaves slowing down to Theta brainwaves. There I ask to connect to my higher self. I get responses and answers to questions I wouldn’t normally receive when my mind is busy with everyday activity. </p>

<strong>Live Mindfully</strong><br />
Allow your mind to be free. Don’t connect two thoughts and appreciate the silent moments in between. When your mind is free of chatter, you’ll receive enlightening messages and thoughts. </p>

<strong>Reflect on Yourself</strong><br />
What are your likes and dislikes? What makes you happy and what hurts you in life? Why is this so? You may take offense to certain things because you have a hidden belief it’s true of you. Work on the way you see yourself and things you believe about yourself, but most importantly love yourself.<br />

<p>Additionally, self acceptance requires us to not only accept our faults, but to be open for growth. Accepting doesn&#8217;t mean to resist positive growth. On the contrary, be willing to become a more loving and fulfilled person.</p>

<strong>Forgiving</strong><br />
Don’t be so hard on yourself. Take the opportunities of mistakes as fuel and knowledge towards the successful outcome. A mistake allows you to eliminate one possibility that doesn’t work. Great! Now you’re closer to your goal!</p>
<p>
<strong>Aspire</strong><br />
Self acceptance shouldn’t be an excuse to avoid growing. On the contrary, you accept the bumps in the road as well as certain aspects of your personality as you’re developing towards a better you.<br />
<br />
Be confident and accept that you have room to change. We all do. Reflect on things you don&#8217;t like about yourself or things that could be better. Can you change them? How can you be different so that you&#8217;re more proud of yourself?</p>
<p>
<strong>Be Flexible</strong><br />
The more rigid you are, the less you’ll be open to developing and growing as a person. Think of bamboo as it bends across the wind without breaking. If it were rigid and stiff, it would break in two. The flexibility allows it to flow effortlessly through the wind as it stays intact.</p>
<p>
Be that way in your life. Keep an eye out for posibilities. It&#8217;s okay if it wasn&#8217;t a part of your original plan. Perhaps this option is better.<br />

<strong>Remain Positive</strong><br />
Each situation has more than one side. Actually, it usually has many points of view. A friend of mine has a slight stuttering condition that most people don’t detect it, including me. His friend is a speech pathologist and helps others with their stuttering. The interesting thing is that his friend has an obvious stutter. His handicap didn’t keep him from moving forward in life. He took it to his advantage to help others.</p>
<p>
What side of the situation will you choose to focus on? The one that brings you down or the one that gives you hope?</p>
<p>
<strong>Keep Your Power</strong><br />
Our images of ourselves are created based on what others have told us about ourselves or comparisons we make against others. You’ll inevitably come across others who will insult you or attempt to hurt you. Allowing their comments to have an effect on you is giving them power. It takes practice, but it’s certainly possibly to shrug off the comments of others without personalizing them.</p>
<p>
Don&#8217;t let others create an image of yourself for you. You be the judge of yourself.</p>
<p>
Compare yourself to yourself. Are you a stronger, wiser, healthier, more loving person today than you were a year ago? Don’t compete with anybody else. Their journey in life is much different than yours. Self acceptance begins with you so start growing and developing yourself!<br />

<p>Self discipline is the ability to stick to a plan and regimen in order to attain a desired goal. A goal begins with a thought and is fostered through the imagination. The reason we sometimes have difficulty disciplining ourselves is because we don’t fully believe in our abilities to achieve it, we’re unfocused, or we’re impatient. The constant slew of negative thoughts makes us lose hope.</p>

<p>It’s important to understand that nothing begins without first a thought. That thought develops as your imagination builds upon it. You begin acting on the picture, and it becomes reality. Once your conscious mind firmly believes in what you’re intending to do, it will be manifested. The self discipline comes as a result of believing in what you want and letting nothing stand in your way.</p>
<p>
<strong>Personal Example</strong></p>
<p>I trained for my first marathon in 2002. I joined a running team and had six months of training. I’m not a natural runner, but it was something I wanted to accomplish. I ran six days a week in preparation. Each evening I put on my running shoes and took to the streets! Believe me, some days were harder than others!</p>
<p>
As I ran with aching feet and dropping stamina, I imagined myself crossing the finish line with my family at the sidelines cheering me on. Sometimes the imagery was so powerful I would get chills and a boost in energy. My self discipline to get out and train each day occurred organically as my imagination determined my goal.<br />
The day of the race my family stood 100 yards from the finish line on the sidelines cheering and waiting to see me run through. For the extra boost I needed, my dad and brother snuck under the rope separating the runners from the crowd. Each ran alongside me and the three of us crossed the finish line together with me in the middle. </p>

<h2>Steps to Self Discipline</h2>
<p><strong>Focus on the End Result.</strong> This is where your imagination comes into play. The end result is already there, you just have to meet it. You’re merely following the steps to your destination. The key is creating the belief firmly into your mind that you will achieve your goal. I had a vision for creating this website. I imagined myself working on it and as a result everything fell into place. I discovered Site Build It to help me create this site at the point where I was feeling in over my head because I had no prior experience with website building. Deep inside I knew and firmly believed I could do this. The steps in between came to me so that I could meet my destination. </p>
<p>
<strong>Make the Decision.</strong> Once you decide to make the change, stick to it. Pretend there is no other option and live your life with this goal in mind. Whenever you catch yourself falling off track, or thinking about falling off track, immediately disconnect from that counterproductive line of thinking that&#8217;s keeping you farther from self discipline.</p>
<p>
<strong>Set Goals.</strong> It’s a process. You can’t jump from point A to point Z. If you have 50 pounds to lose, focus on the immediate goals and change your diet and begin exercising. Begin by doing what you need to do to lose the first two pounds in the first week. As you move forward, the pounds begin to shed and you’ll end up at your goal. That brings me to the next point… </p>
<p>
<strong>Commend Yourself.</strong> As you stay on track, you’ll notice little improvements. Each little positive change is bringing you closer to your goal and inspires you to continue. In order to see more positive changes, you must continue on the right path. This is your incentive and self discipline becomes easier. </p>
<p>
<strong>Write Things Down. </strong>For my marathon, I had a calendar for each day of training. I knew exactly how long I needed to run for that day. As each day passed, I crossed out another box. The calendar was in plain view and I knew my goals for the day. Write down your list and place it where you’ll see it each day. Wake up to this and go to sleep with this. </p>
<p>
<strong>Create a Schedule.</strong> Most importantly, keep a schedule that you can stick with. I know my creative juices work best in the evening so I stick to this routine to write. I also have more energy in the evening so I hit the gym then. Know yourself. </p>
<p>
<strong>Do a Little.</strong> Sometimes we just don’t have the motivation to do something with full gusto. Depending on the goal, you don’t have to work diligently everyday, but you’ll feel more productive and less regretful if you do at least a little. </p>
<p>
<strong>Get Excited.</strong> It’s a lot easier to discipline yourself into doing something you’re enjoying. Your mind is easily influenced. If you have two contradicting thoughts, the most powerful wins. If you’re telling yourself to do something, but your mind is also telling you you’re not good enough or you’re on your way to failure, chances are you’re going to quit. Focus on the rewards only, not the process or the challenges. Losing weight takes a lot of motivation. Don’t focus on the 50 pounds you’re trying to lose. That makes it sound like an impossible task and it’s easy to lose motivation. Instead focus on how well you’re going to feel and look. You’ll get there! </p>
<p>
<strong>Work with the Subconscious Mind. </strong>Have you ever tried to remember somebody’s name and the harder you rack your brain, the farther away from the answer you seem to be? Then 5 hours later while you’re about to fall asleep the name George pops into your mind out of nowhere! Your mind doesn’t work well with resistance. Things happen when life is flowing freely like the wind. Forcing yourself to stick to a plan while your mind is resisting won’t get you anywhere. Get your thoughts in accordance with your desires and most importantly use your imagination!<br />

<p>Many people are unfamiliar with the feeling of having an open heart. Try this meditation to understand and experience that feeling:</p>
<p>
<strong>Compassion Meditation</strong><br />
See the world through your heart by pretending you’re missing your head! It’s a very effective meditation. I do it as a quiet meditation as I sit in my room, or I do it while I’m out of the house and around others. I find it very useful when I’m stuck in freeway traffic and I’m becoming irritated.</p>
<p>
Bring your focus to your heart chakra and close off the mental activity. Sit here for a while or gaze around. Even if you’re only able to do this for a few seconds, it’s calming and immediately reminds you of the Oneness you have with the Universe.</p>
<p>
As I sit in traffic while I do this meditation, I’m reminded that we’re all trying to get to our destinations to do whatever we need to do. We’re all the same. I immediately calm down, crank up the music and sing while I drive! (Or should I say, slowly crawl inch by inch.)<br />

<h2>The Miracle of Love and Harmonious Living</h2>
<p>Harmonious living occurs when your heart chakra is open and accepting. I spent time with The Barefoot Doctor who presents the ancient Tao in a universally comprehensible and fun way. He explained how the miracle of love is key for bringing into your life the people and things you want. In fact, whatever you desire comes to you through other people. You must be open, accepting, and loving to live in harmony with the Universe. You&#8217;ll always get what you want, but it&#8217;ll come to you through other people. When you live in love, your life becomes a puzzle of perfectly placed pieces.</p>
<p>
I was looking to get a video interview with an acupuncturist. All I needed was a person willing to be my model as the practitioner demonstrates the therapy. I called a friend to see if she was available. She suggested I speak to her friend who wasn’t having luck with a Western doctor and recently began considering acupuncture. They had just spoken the day before. Her friend agreed to be my model and the very next day my call was returned from the acupuncture clinic and I booked the interview. Everything flowed perfectly for us!</p>
<p></p>
<h2>What The Miracle of Love Can Do </h2>
<p><strong>Water</strong><br />
Dr. Masaru Emoto has evidence that suggests that our thoughts and words affect the molecules of water. He and his colleagues typed several words on various pieces of paper and taped it to different glass bottles containing water. He photographed the frozen molecules and saw a change in shape and form depending on the word placed on the bottle. The words Love and Appreciation create a change in the molecular structure as compared to the words You make me sick. I will kill you. He also tested different types of music and names of deceased people including Hitler and Mother Theresa. The molecules of positive influence look much nicer than the ones given negative attention.</p>
<p>
This is astounding since our bodies are comprised of 70% water. Our loving thoughts are just as influential as the negative thoughts so start thinking love! It’s also a good idea to send thoughts into the water you drink. Hold the glass of water in your hands and generate feelings of love, prosperity, good health, wealth, etc. Also, write down the words on your water bottles.</p>
<p>
<strong>Plants and Animals</strong><br />
The energy field of plants change according to its surroundings. The energy field is higher when humans approach them with kindness. The field lowers when approached with anger. They sense vibrations similarly to our pets! I was at a friend’s house and she and her boyfriend began to argue. The dog who was sitting comfortably on the couch snuck away and left the room. Even animals like to be in a peaceful environment!</p>
<p>
<strong>Babies</strong><br />
Scientific evidence shows that babies who are loved develop emotionally and biologically healthier than those who are neglected. Not only will the baby develop better, but the child’s capacity to love in his or her life is directly correlated to how much love the baby is given.</p>

People with self love are generally happier, more accepting of themselves, and flourish. By comparison those who don’t love themselves have a more difficult time in life.<br />

<p>We search for miracle pills, clothes, cars, jewelry, or even drugs to bring us the happiness we seek. Sure the new flashy car or pretty dress is a quick fix. It’s also a temporary fix. Soon enough we’re on the search for the next solution. </p>

<p>The truth is that happiness is inside of us! We’ve suppressed it to the point of forgetting it even existed. Think back to when you were a child and how the simplest of things made you happy. Perhaps all it took was a scoop of your favorite ice cream on top of a sugar cone to brighten up your day. </p>
<p>If you don’t remember many instances from your childhood, watch children at play. They roll around the dirt laughing and having a grand old time! Sure they fall and scrape their knees and even cry a little, but they get back up and go at it again. Children don&#8217;t even think about how to be happy. They just are happy. Unfortunately, many adults have forgotten how to be happy.</p>
<p>Rolling around in the dirt and eating ice cream may not be your idea of being happy. Well, maybe eating ice cream is! No matter where you are in your life, you too can learn again how to be happy. </p>
<ul>
<li><strong> Search within. </strong>Finding happiness by collecting things will only go so far. Eventually you’ll search for something else to replace the first thing once that object no longer satisfies you. You’ll continue on that cycle.
<p>Depending on people for your happiness will give you a false sense of true happiness. If you’re solely finding happiness through your boyfriend or girlfriend, you’ll feel crushed when the relationship ends. Break-ups are always hard, but if you remember that happiness is found within you you’ll be able to move on from the break-up easier and continue to feel happy. This is true for any relationship or friendship you have with another person.
</li>
<p></p>
<li><strong>Be detached. </strong>Remember that everything in life is in constant motion and impermanent. Sadness comes when we lose something we’ve become attached to. Adapt to change and accept the things that come into your life as well as the things that leave your life. </li>
<p></p>
<li>
<strong>Be appreciative.</strong> Be happy for the great qualities you have that make you the magnificent being you are! Be grateful for food, the sunset, people, and nature, but don’t become attached! (Read above) Appreciate the things that make you wonderful and appreciate the things in others that make them special. That brings us to our next point.
</li>
<p></p>
<li><strong>Don’t compare yourself.</strong> You possess certain qualities that make you unique. Everyone has something special to contribute to society. Chances are that you’ll come across someone who is stronger, smarter, or more talented than you. The same holds true for somebody else! You are stronger, smarter, and more talented than another person! That doesn’t make one person better or worse than another.
<p>
Comparing yourself to someone you think is better than you is self-sabotaging. You’ll become disappointed in yourself and jealous of the other person. Both of which are very unhealthy.<br />
<br />
Comparing yourself to someone who you think you’re better than is a result of the ego talking. Thinking negatively of another person serves no purpose but to momentarily make you feel better about yourself. That is until that person achieves whatever it is that you thought was making you better than him or her. Instead compare yourself to yourself. Focus on building confidence and let everyone else focus on themselves.
</li>
<p></p>
<li><strong>Experience, learn, then move on!</strong> Your outlook on life directly correlates to your happiness. Take your life situations as learning experiences then move on to the next experience. Don’t dwell on something that didn’t go as planned. This takes self discipline, but it&#8217;s very doable.</li>
<p></p>
<li><strong>Do things you enjoy.</strong> Simple enough! Being happy is easy when you&#8217;re doing things that make you smile. It could be anything from knitting, gardening, dancing, reading, or watching a movie. Start a new project or continue one that you’ve been putting off. Click here for fun ideas to enjoy life! </li>

<li>Remind yourself to be happy. Being happy is a state of mind. Take yourself back to a moment when you were filled with happiness and focus on that emotion until you feel it in the present. Decide to let go of the anger, resentment, and sadness. Happiness will remain.</li>

<p>We often criticize and judge ourselves harshly and not give ourselves any credit! How is that loving behavior? We all have positive attributes and have something to contribute to society. It’s time to recognize yours. When you love yourself you exude confidence and attract wonderful things into your life. You’ll begin to see situations through optimistic eyes.</p>

<p><strong>Write a list. </strong>Think about all the positive things you have to offer and write them down. That includes even the smallest of things you may not consider to be impressive. Here are some ideas: (feel free to use these because they probably apply to you!) you’re a good friend, a great listener, a fantastic cook, fabulous dancer, superb conversationalist, loyal, trustworthy, wonderful gardener&#8230;etc.</p>

<p><strong>Remember all your accomplishments.</strong> Write another list of the great things you’ve done. Maybe you’ve run a marathon or just begun an exercise regimen. Whatever the accomplishment is, it’s significant and unique to you because of the experiences you’ve had in your life. Don’t compare yourself to anybody else. They have a completely different path.</p>
<p><strong>Accept yourself. </strong>This means everything about you! We’ve all made mistakes…and maybe more mistakes. Learn from them and chalk them up as experiences in life. Let go of the things that are done and unchangeable. Your new life begins this moment so move forward and start learning how to love yourself.</p>
<p><strong>Use mantras. </strong>When you feel down, repeat the mantra: I love myself unconditionally and recognize the extraordinary person that I am! Think of any mantra that resonates and feels right to you. You’ll have higher chances of success if you repeat mantras that resonate with you otherwise the words are empty. If it feels strange to say “I love myself,” then start of with something you believe to be true like, “I care about my wellbeing” or “I’m worthy of love.” Once your subconscious mind believes that you’re worthy of love, you’ll begin to accept it into your life. </p>
<p><strong>Give yourself a pep talk.</strong> We’re often more loving and accepting of our friends and more critical of ourselves. Not anymore! Get rid of the negative self-talk and start with loving and positive messages. When something goes wrong don’t beat yourself up over it. Comfort yourself and remember that it will work out in the end. </p>
<p><strong>Treat yourself. </strong>Do nice things for yourself! Enjoy a movie, a cookie, paint your toes, or take a trip to the beach. Do things you enjoy! </p>

<li><strong>Respect Yourself.</strong> Treat yourself with the tender care you deserve. Listen to your body and your feelings. Eat only when you&#8217;re hungry, rest when you&#8217;re tired, meditate, and treat yourself on occasion. Become more self aware.

<li><strong>The World is Your Mirror and You are the Mirror to the World.</strong> Your outlook on life is a reflection of what you&#8217;re feeling inside, and what you&#8217;re feeling inside is how you see the world. If the world seems cruel and unjust, that&#8217;s what you&#8217;ll bring into your life. If you expect to receive love and success in your life, your powerful thoughts will manifest positivity. It&#8217;s proven that your thoughts are what creates your life. Practice creating only productive thoughts.</li>

Many times we have irrational fears. Dig deeper into your fear until you get to the bottom. What’s the worst that would happen if you started a business and it didn’t pan out? You lose money and time. Money can be replaced and the lessons learned can guide you in future ventures. Get to the bottom of your fear and find the solution. You’ll realize things can work out and your fear isn’t so bad. Take some time out of your day to meditate and look within.<br />

The only person you should compare yourself with is yourself. Are you progressing in your life? Are you growing and becoming a better person today than you were a year ago? You can’t base your success by the standards of others. It doesn’t work.<br />

<p>As soon as you hear negative self speak sneaking up on you, stop it in its tracks. Quickly replace it with a positive affirmation. If you doubt your ability to finish a project, you won’t even start! Don’t let that little annoying voice in your head get the best of you. People who know how to build confidence agree it&#8217;s something that begins on the inside. Keep the mental negative chatter away.</p>
<p><strong>Don’t Give Up</strong></p>
<p>Aim for the sky and don’t stop until you get there. Exhaust all your options before you call it quits. Give it your best shot and keep at it. Believe in yourself. After I came up with the idea for this website, I was fortunate enough to discover Site Build It which guided me into developing it. I kept at it until I reached success, and I even created a second website which is going well.</p>

<p>We often criticize and judge ourselves harshly and not give ourselves any credit! How is that loving behavior? We all have positive attributes and have something to contribute to society. It’s time to recognize yours. When you love yourself you exude confidence and attract wonderful things into your life. You’ll begin to see situations through optimistic eyes.</p>

<p><strong>Write a list.</strong> Think about all the positive things you have to offer and write them down. That includes even the smallest of things you may not consider to be impressive. Here are some ideas: (feel free to use these because they probably apply to you!) you’re a good friend, a great listener, a fantastic cook, fabulous dancer, superb conversationalist, loyal, trustworthy, wonderful gardener&#8230;etc.</p>
<p><strong>Remember all your accomplishments. </strong>Write another list of the great things you’ve done. Maybe you’ve run a marathon or just begun an exercise regimen. Whatever the accomplishment is, it’s significant and unique to you because of the experiences you’ve had in your life. Don’t compare yourself to anybody else. They have a completely different path. </p>

<p><strong>Accept yourself.</strong> This means everything about you! We’ve all made mistakes…and maybe more mistakes. Learn from them and chalk them up as experiences in life. Let go of the things that are done and unchangeable. Your new life begins this moment so move forward and start learning how to love yourself.</p>
<p><strong>Use mantras.</strong> When you feel down, repeat the mantra: I love myself unconditionally and recognize the extraordinary person that I am! Think of any mantra that resonates and feels right to you. You’ll have higher chances of success if you repeat mantras that resonate with you otherwise the words are empty. If it feels strange to say “I love myself,” then start of with something you believe to be true like, “I care about my wellbeing” or “I’m worthy of love.” Once your subconscious mind believes that you’re worthy of love, you’ll begin to accept it into your life. </p>
<p><strong>Give yourself a pep talk.</strong> We’re often more loving and accepting of our friends and more critical of ourselves. Not anymore! Get rid of the negative self-talk and start with loving and positive messages. When something goes wrong don’t beat yourself up over it. Comfort yourself and remember that it will work out in the end.</p>
