Yes, life is a canvas and it’s possible to see the beauty, spirituality and art in everything. For the purpose of this page, we’re focusing specifically on metaphysical, new age, and spirituality in books and music.

Metaphysics refers to things beyond physical and generally meaning spiritual. Some topics include: clairvoyance, energy healing, crystals, and auras.

New Age is sometimes used interchangeably with metaphysics although that term is dying off. Although coined new age, these practices have actually existed for centuries and are the basis for other religions. For example, Christianity branched off from paganism. Under the umbrella of new age, you’ll find tarot cards, divination, and astrology, to name a few.

Many artists write political songs, social issues, and songs of peace. Of course they may have a few love songs, but the goal isn’t to become lost in the sea of the mainstream. These artists create music that’s thought provoking and different.


Preeta & the PeaceMakers is one example. As the name of their band states, they have one main cause-to spread world peace.

Their songs have a rock/pop/reggae feel and Preeta, the main singer, always brings her acoustic guitar. A native of Hawaii, Preeta met her first guitar at the age of five. With hippie parents, it’s no wonder she finds it important to spread messages of world peace. Most of the band members are vegan and aim to live the positive lifestyle they sing about.
