Hold the pendulum over your chakras one at a time. Hold the wrist softly and allow the pendulum to hang down. The crystal pendulum should begin to move in a circular motion as it moves with the energy field of the chakra. If it doesn’t move, it indicates a blocked chakra.

After buying your crystals, it’s best to cleanse them of energies they may have picked up from others along the way, then charge them with your own energy. If used by a practitioner for healing, the stones should be cleansed after each session.

Cleansing Crystals

The cleansing method depends on the stone you’re using. Some stones like amethyst or rose quartz fade in direct sunlight. For others, simply place the stone out in the sun for a few hours.

Salt water or rain water is a great way to clean stones. I use a combination of sea salt and water and place the stones in for a day.

Smudging stones with incense smoke is another tool you can use. Try sage, sandalwood, or myrrh. Hold the crystals over the smoke for a few minutes until you feel the crystals are cleared of the energy.

Bury them in the Earth for a couple days. Mark the location with a bigger rock or a stick so you don’t lose them! You may also place the stones in a flower pot.

Basic rule of thumb: Do what feels right! When you feel your crystals are clean, they probably are!

Now charge them. Hold the crystals in your dominant hand while visualizing your energy infusing the stone. You can also amplify the crystal with an intention. For example, you may carry a rose quartz to attract love. While holding the crystal in your hand, intend that the crystal help to open up your heart and allow for love to enter. It’s best to carry the quartz as a necklace over your heart.

Stones and their correlation to the body

Wear crystals whenever you feel you need to enhance or uplift a physical or emotional aspect in your life.

First chakra: For stability and grounding use red stones like Ruby. Hematite, Garnet and Jasper are also great.

Second chakra: For matters of sexuality and creativity, use orange stones like Carnelian or Orange Calcite.

Third chakra: For confidence, ambition, and power use yellow stones like Yellow Jasper or Citrine.

Fourth chakra: For love, compassion, and emotional stability use green or pink stones. Rose Quartz, Jade or Emerald are options.

Fifth chakra: For communication and self-expression use blue stones like Sapphire, Blue Calcite, and Aquamarine.

Sixth chakra: For intuition and enhancement of psychic ability use Amethyst or Lapis Lazuli.

Seventh chakra: For spiritual guidance and connection to the universal life-force use clear Quartz or White Topaz.

Chakra is a Sanskrit term which means wheel or circle and were first classified in Ancient India. The seven major chakras begin with the first which is located at the base of the spine up to the seventh which is located at the top of the head. The first chakra vibrates at the slowest speed and the last vibrates the fastest. All the chakras are represented by different colors.

Crystals have healing properties and can be used for chakra healing if worn close to the body or if used during an energy healing session.

Tools for chakra healing

To keep the chakras open it’s best to live a balanced lifestyle. Become more aware of physical or emotional changes in the body. Do you feel less confident than before? Have you stopped using your creativity? Read this ebook on unleashing your creativity.

Intuitively see if your chakras are imbalanced. Visualize each color of the chakras flow through the body. Begin with the first chakra which is red. Imagine a red light coming from the Earth through the bottom of the feet up through the top of the head. See how it feels. Is the light moving slowly? Are you having a difficult time visualizing it? Is it stagnant? Then continue the same procedure with orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. Slow moving energy may indicate a blocked chakra.

Base: Red. Associated with survival. If you find yourself very attached to money or feel out of place in society, you may have an imbalanced first chakra. Practice grounding exercises. Visualize a strong cord or light attaching to your root chakra down to the center of the earth. Make sure you have a strong connection. Meditate on this for a while until you feel well grounded.

Sacral: Orange. Associated with sexuality and creativity. Many have stifled their creativity and work in jobs which bring them unhappiness. To bring this chakra into balance, begin a new project, garden, or draw.

Solar Plexus: Yellow. Associated with confidence and sense of self. A lack of self-esteem or motivation could mean a blockage. For balancing, write a list of your positive traits. Tape the list next to your mirror and remind yourself each morning and night of your beauty.

Heart: Pink or Green. Associated with love and compassion. A blocked heart chakra may result in a lack of love for oneself, low self esteem, depression, or cynicism. For balance wear a rose quartz and practice seeing the world through the heart. Imagine your heart is your eyes and pretend your head is no longer there. You’ll see the world with more compassion.

Throat: Blue. Associated with communication. An inability to express your thoughts or ideas is a sign of a blocked chakra. Make a habit of writing in a journal. If you have difficulty expressing yourself to a particular person, a boss, or someone from your past with whom you need to forgive, write a letter to that person. Conduct a ceremony to release those feelings. Burn the letter and intend your negative energies associated with it to be burned away as well. Don’t conduct the ceremony where you may cause a bigger fire!

Third eye: Indigo. Associated with intuitive and psychic ability. Are you having trouble listening to your inner voice? Practice becoming more intuitive with a deck of playing cards. Hold the cards face down. Try sensing which card is at the top of the deck. First start of by sensing whether it’s black or red, then as you progress begin to psychically figure out the symbol and number.

Crown: Violet. Associated with oneness and the connection with spirit. Feelings of loneliness or disconnection with the universe means the crown chakra could use balancing. Visualize a brilliant white light coming from Source and entering through the top of your head, through your body to the center of the earth. Feel the energy for a while. You may begin to sway a bit. This is because the universal life-force is flowing through you!
