In our lives we become out of balance. In Chinese medicine, we aim to balance the yin and yang in our bodies. Yin and yang are opposing and complementary forces in all of us. One cannot exist without the other and we’re in perfect harmony when neither is dominating the other. Acupuncture offers many benefits for our bodies. Physical, emotional, and mental ailments including anxiety can be treated. I’ve written additional benefits below.

Yin traits

Dark

Feminine

Cold

Passive

Moon

Winter

Yang traits

Light

Masculine

Hot

Active

Sun

Summer

Fire Cupping

Fire cupping uses cups to create a vacuum effect on acupressure points of the body. Unlike a massage that only pushes down on the skin, fire cupping utilizes the sucking action as well. It treats back, neck, and shoulder pain as well as respiratory diseases. Watch the video below to see how this modality works.

Is Acupuncture painful?

The needles are ultra thin and flexible so it’s nearly painless when the needle enters. Some clients feel tingling, distention, or an electric sensation around the needle or traveling from the needle. I found that I felt the needle more in areas of my body where I had blocked Qi. In other areas, I felt nothing at all.

Is Acupuncture safe?

It is safe when practiced with a licensed acupuncturist using sterile, disposable needles.

How far do the needles enter?

Depending where in the body the needles are inserted, you can expect the needle to enter from ¼ to 1 inch deep.

Benefits of Acupuncture

These are only some of the disorders acupuncture helps: allergies, asthma, constipation, urinary tract infections, arthritis, migraine headaches, insomnia, back pain, neck and shoulder pain, depression, and anxiety.

Watch an interview with a licensed acupuncturist and intern from Emperor’s College in Santa Monica, CA as they explain the benefits of acupuncture and cupping and demonstrate both on a patient.
